Which character is most true to themselves.
I think that Igby is the most true to him self and genuine because in the book all that Holden did was whine about how bad his life is and he never does anything to try and fix it he just hits the bars and calls everyone phony. where as in the movie Igby actually went and did his high school equivalency test and he is trying to make something of his life. Igby also tries to make some friends and keep them . He is also under a false impression his whole life about who is his father. so he shouldn't have any mental problems.

If I had to get away where would I go
If I had to get away I would to a cabin somewhere with like a 1000 acres and a bunch of equiptment and just farm for a year or so. whenever i get mad or anything like that I usuly just go somewhere and work. cuttin hay, plough fields or combine wheat. That is what I like all kinds of farming.

Is it possible to protect everything that matters to you.
I do not think you can protect everything and everyone because every body is there own person. They have there own mind and ultimitly they can do what ever they want. like in the catcher in the rye when Stradlettar goes ou t with jane the girl that Holden likes, he really diddnt like the idea of hin going with her. If you have a car or truck that you really like, as soon as you walk away from it locked or not if someone wants to steal it they will. and holden tried to save his brother from dying but now all he has is his baseball glove to remember him by. we have a dump truck on the farm that has gave us alot of years of good service and we hate to say it but there is going to come a day when were going to have to give it up.
